Danni Ashe - Howard SternCindy Margolis Gets Called Out on the Stern Show |
More About the Battle for Most Downloaded Woman |
But this war of words would not diminish. Only 5 days later on
September 19th, Time Magazine weighed in and backed Ashe as the Most
Downloaded Woman. But in interviews on CNN, Extra, and the Howard Stern Show, Margolis
repeatedly accused Ashe of “cyber-squatting,” which she claimed was
accomplished by buying web addresses with close misspellings of
Margolis’ name and then re-directing them to Ashe’s site.“It’s unfortunate that Cindy feels the need to make such ill-informed, potentially slanderous statements regarding my business practices,” Ashe said. “It is unequivocally not true. The suggestion that I might indulge in “cyber-squatting” is as offensive as it’s ridiculous. Over the years, I’ve had to fight hard to protect my own name online and have helped numerous other models fight for their names. I would never dream of committing the same offense against someone else.” On a September 27th, 2000, appearance on the Howard Stern Show, the self-proclaimed “King of All Media” backed the ample-chested Ashe‘s claim to the title. But Danni went even further, issuing a direct challenge to Margolis. She stated that her claims had been backed up with hard data from the beginning, while Margolis’ claims had very little evidence to support them. “As far as we can tell,” said Ashe, “Cindy’s original Guinness claim for 7 million downloads was backed up by press accounts referencing an AOL forum alone, no log files or data of any kind were ever presented to Guinness or to the public. Even after increasing her claim from 7 million to 53 million in the last year, Cindy has still failed to provide any hard evidence supporting her numbers.” Take a free tour of Danni's site by clicking here. “I’ve been downloaded 841 million times, and that makes me the Most Downloaded Woman in the History of the Internet,” she continued. “I’m not interested in a divisional title. In the Superbowl of downloads, my numbers quite simply blow Cindy’s away.” When asked why she was so tenacious about not sharing the record, Ashe pointed to several factors, one being that Margolis had suggested that the presence of nudity on her website somehow made her claims to the title less legitimate.
