Ashe went on to add, “It’s clear that had I submitted my own data
earlier, she’d never have had the title.”Neil Cirucci, the publicist for Cindy Margolis, wasn’t entirely convinced. While Ashe was claiming a world record, he pointed out that Margolis still had the title from Yahoo! Internet Life magazine. He also speculated that Ashe’s total downloads could include photos of her with other models, and that could cause the total number to be inflated. Cirucci said that Kingworld Productions and WindowsMedia.com had both received requests from Ashe’s offices requesting that Margolis no longer be referred to as the Most Downloaded Woman. “Now it’s getting annoying more than anything,” he said. And in the middle of the war of words, Cindy Margolis finally weighed in with her opinion. She wrote, “I honestly don’t believe a respected book like the Guinness Book of World Records has a category for pornography. If it does, however, I am sure that having no nudity on my website would automatically disqualify me from competing with girls or websites of this nature.” Ashe responded, “It’s clearly very important to them. I’m really amazed at how desperately she’s behaving.” See what all the fuss is about at Danni.com by clicking here. On August 31st, 2000, Guinness World Records announced that it would not split up the Most Downloaded Woman record. The announcement came after the Margolis camp raised doubts as to whether or not a non-nude free site should have to compete with a nude subscription site. But on September 4th, the organization surprisingly reversed its decision and released the following statement: “Guinness World Records now recognizes two separate records in [the Most Downloaded Woman] field: Most Downloaded Woman (on a cost-free basis) and Most Downloaded Woman (on a paying basis). As of September 1st, 2000, Guinness World Records recognizes Cindy Margolis as holder of Most Downloaded Woman (on a cost-free basis) and Danni Ashe as Most Downloaded Woman (on a paying basis).” The following day, September 5th, Danni Ashe issued a statement and made a claim to both Most Downloaded Woman world records. This prompted Guinness World Records to issue a statement on September 14th stating that they would no longer accept claims to the Most Downloaded title until they could locate “a single recognized authority capable of verifying future claims of Internet traffic and/or downloads.” Danni Ashe Main Page - Page 1 Danni Ashe - Juggs and the Wall Street Journal - Page 2 Danni Ashe vs. Cindy Margolis - Page 3 Danni Ashe - Cindy Margolis - Most Downloaded Woman - Page 4 Danni Ashe - Cindy Margolis - Guinness Book of World Records - Page 5 Danni Ashe - Cindy Margolis on Howard Stern - Page 6 Cindy Margolis in Playboy Magazine - Page 7 |
