After being presented with this evidence, Guinness awarded Ashe with their Most Downloaded title, effectively stripping Margolis of the honor. Samuel Sugar, the marketing director for Ashe, called into the Howard Stern show during a live appearance by Cindy Margolis and delivered the news. Margolis accused her of stealing the title, and Stern eagerly suggested a catfight to decide the true champion. In the January, 2001, issue of Yahoo! Internet Life, the periodical stripped Margolis of her Most Downloaded title. This fanned the flames and helped the story continue to build momentum. In the wake of the Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee Internet scandal, the public seemed hungry for more. In fact, Ashe was simultaneously interviewed by CBS, ABC, and NBC. Her stardom assured, Ashe even made an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival. As the story finally began to die down, Guinness World Records announced that they would no longer award a record for Most Downloaded, as it was simply too difficult to accurately keep track of. While the controversy is long behind them now, both beauties continue to claim the title of Most Downloaded Woman. And neither career has suffered from the feud, as both remain highly recognizable figures. Margolis went on to appear in both film and television. Recently, at the age of 41, she posed nude for the first time in Playboy magazine, no doubt gaining a legion of new fans in the process. Her attitude of superiority about Danni Ashe appearing nude rings hollow and somewhat hypocritical now, considering the nude pics Cindy has done for Playboy magazine now. Ashe, meanwhile, still has her image downloaded an average of 100,000 times every day and uses more bandwidth than all of Central America. She continues to run her self-made Internet empire. While only one woman could wear the crown of Most Downloaded, in the end they both came out winners.
