 Aria worked hard towards her degree in Biochemistry, hoping to
one day secure a job in a cancer and/or genetics research lab. By this time,
she was waiting tables at night to make a living and also serving as a
tutor for the university’s Chemistry, Biology, and Math departments. In
addition, she also became a teacher’s aide for the Biology department.But times were still tight, and Aria was struggling to make ends meet while she took on a 17 1/2-hour college course load. She started looking for additional ways to make money. In October of 1999, she began answering ads for models in various San Diego periodicals. Over the next six months, Aria started appearing on numerous amateur pornography websites such as Busty Amateurs, Seductive Amateurs (aka SeductiveAmateurs), and Amateur Pink. While she never shot content with men, one early videotape does feature Aria in several graphic solo scenes. At her young age, Aria had to learn the hard way what she was, and wasn’t, willing to do for the camera. She has since stated that the biggest regret of her career is the hardcore content she shot in the beginning. While it bothers Aria that this material is still circulating on the Internet, she philosophically chalks it up to one of life’s hard lessons. Since that early time, she has never done another hardcore shoot and has taken a firm stance on what kind of material she’s willing to do. While Aria worked hard to nurture her modeling career, she was still hitting the books in college. In 2000, a business associate named Aimee Sweet took Aria to Los Angeles and introduced her to noted glamour photographer Suze Randall. The photographer was impressed by the natural curves and exotic look of Aria and suggested that the young woman pose for a photo shoot. In May of that year, Randall shot Giovanni for the first time. After a couple of successful sessions, Randall submitted some of the photos to Penthouse magazine.
